Takemoto Short Blade Sickle – Banshu Gama
In the old days when machine tools weren’t available, Japanese farmers used hand sickles to remove all the weeds in their fields.
Takemoto Sickle Manufacturing’s history goes back to 1912 – currently the 4th generation carries on the family tradition.
This Japanese sickle carries the regional traditional style of the Banshu area where the manufacturer is located and is said to have been produced since the late 1860s.
This short blade Japanese sickle is designed to use in a sitting position – hold it in your right hand to cut grass above or just below the surface of the soil. It can also be used as a harvesting sickle.
Japanese Sickle Safety
As the blade is sharp, we highly recommend wearing garden gloves and long thick fabric shirts & pants when you use this Japanese sickle. Please store it in a safe place, keeping out of reach of children.
